Time to take the GS up in the high country...O.K., it's just the Angeles National Forest right outside my backdoor, the San Gabriel mountains to Valleyites.
But there are some great ATV-legal roads up there, it too part of the Pacific Crest Trail that runs from L.A. to somewhere around Seattle.

There be some big trees up there, I wonder how old this one be? This is right at the top of the Lightning Ridge.

I'm getting really good at washing out the front on this beast....lowering the tire pressure might help.

There are some nice hiking trails off the fire roads that you could actually ride if you had,say, a lighter and proper dirt bike...or more skill than I've got at the moment.


This particular view is facing right about due west, that would be the Los Angeles basin on the other side..


Being a novice adventure dude I had to head back down the mountain due to lack of planning...low gas, low food, low brow approach...
There's a monument to firefighters I thought was kinda cool.

I'll do this again some time, better prepared of course. Anyhow, some day I'll do it like the Real Men do...
